Hello David

When we spoke on 40m I said that I would have a look at the photos on
your site.

Sorry- I cannot add any further info.
Those of G5BQ, G3IIT, G2CDX,G3GGK are exactly how I remember them from
the 60s when I regularly attended the club.

I also remember that Onan generator shown in one of the photos.
One year, my father arranged a field day site at Knapwell for the club
as he knew the farmer. They used that generator and it was constantly
needing attention!
It must have been in 1964 or 65 as I didn't have a licence and was still
at school. I cycled from Over to the field day site and got soaked in
the rain getting back.
David Symonds, an SWL at the club, went with me. He was in the same
class at school ( Now Hills rd 6th form College).

David now lives here in Orlando.

Peter Broom (G5DQ) and Peter Tremaine ( G8PB?)were the main operators.
Excellent Cw operators.
I seem to remember that Harry Biltcliffe G5HB came along as well.

On my QRZ page there is a picture of me operating from Cambridge Club
(G3PKF) in a 2m contest (Taken late 60s)

We are now back in Florida... too hot and humid!
Tomorrow I am driving to Fort Lauderdale to meet Peter Curtis. He was an
SWL member of the club about 1970. I believe we used his Land Rover when
we operated 2m field day from West Wratting.

He is another ex Pye telecom staff. He went to Brazil on an installation
project there and married a Brazilian.
Then moved to Florida and worked for Motorola for many years. Now
retired.

-------
Hopefully back in Wisbech next Spring/Summer.

All the best
Allan
