Mills on the Air 2006John Bonner G0GKP reports on this year, thanks for organizing the event John. Once again we were invited to run a Special Event as GB0CMW at Cattell's windmill inWillingham. This year, the licencee was the mill owner Richard with his renewed old call of G8FTE. His wife Sarah and her friends as usual provided yummy refreshments. We used G6KWA's mast, the club's FT751A + AMU and G5RV. During the firstday we stuck to 80 m, making 71 QSOs of which 15 were other Mills. On Sunday, 31 QSO's with 10 more Mills were logged. As conditions had changed, we QSY'd to 40m and once to 20m during which we logged a German World Cup Stadium station, one in Zurich and another well into the Norwegian Arctic circle.
A local photographer had taken some good pictures of the mill and these will become the QSL cards for the event. Thanks to Richard and Sarah for their hospitality on such a nice site and to all the members who turned up and operated the station. |
